Now Open: Urgent Care Center at South Alex
The Inova-GoHealth Urgent Care at 6218B N. Kings Highway opened last week, making it the second retail tenant to start operating at the South Alex mixed-used development. Located next to anchor tenant Aldi, the clinic provides anyone over six months of age with treatment for common, non-life-threatening health concerns. Inova medical professionals staff the clinic and can connect patients with the health system’s network of care, if need be. Patients can get walk-in service, request a virtual visit or schedule an appointment online. The clinic is open Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Burlington Eyes Late June Opening at Mount Vernon Plaza
Discount retailer Burlington will tentatively hold its grand opening at Mount Vernon Plaza on June 28, according to the store’s website. Located in the former Bed Bath & Beyond space, Burlington is currently hiring several types of retail managers.
WNB Factory in Huntington Remains Closed, Future Uncertain
The WNB Factory franchise that opened at Huntington Gateway shopping center in September 2022 has remained closed since reportedly experiencing a carbon monoxide emergency last summer. According to Langston Malin, battalion chief for inspection services with Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department, the Penn Daw Fire Station responded last August to an equipment malfunction at the restaurant, which was found to involve a vent hood. The store is listed as “temporarily closed” on WNB’s corporate website; On the MoVe has not heard back from the company, franchisee or property management company with an update.
Fort Belvoir Officers’ Club to Undergo Yearlong Renovation
According to George Dickson, director of the Fort Belvoir Directorate of Family Morale, Welfare and Recreation, the Fort Belvoir Officers’ Club is under a design-build contract for major repairs. Construction is slated to start in June 2024 and be completed in summer 2025. Room rentals are available until May 2024.
County Receives Award for Hybla Valley Community Center
The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) recently received an Award of Excellence in Community Revitalization from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) for the Hybla Valley Community Center, according to an FCRHA news post. The award will be presented at NAHRO’s 2024 Washington Conference in April.
