Hotel near Fort Belvoir celebrates grand reopening
The Hampton Inn & Suites Fort Belvoir Alexandria South, which broke ground along the Richmond Highway Corridor 15 years ago and opened in 2009, held a grand reopening celebration Nov. 29 after a complete interior and exterior renovation earlier this year.
The 131-room hotel, which features a heated indoor pool and fitness room with brand-new amenities, is particularly popular with government and military personnel, according to hotel director of sales Lydia Little. She said they comprise about 60% of the hotel’s business.
At the time the hotel originally opened, just prior to a major expansion at Fort Belvoir due to Base Realignment and Closure, the Hampton Inn & Suites was reportedly the Richmond Highway area’s first new hotel in 15 years.
Despite the subsequent opening of two additional hotels next to the property in 2012 and 2020, the Hampton Inn & Suites has continued to perform well, said Little, due to its association with the “Hampton by Hilton” brand.
“Our brand really helps from that aspect,” she said, adding that the property is owned by SSN Hotels.
Little joined Mount Vernon Springfield Chamber of Commerce President Holly Dougherty and other hotel managers and employees in cutting a ribbon in recognition of the property’s grand reopening. Event attendees had the opportunity to tour the renovated hotel, enjoy hors d’oeuvres and participate in raffles.
We applaud the investment by Hampton Inn Fort Belvoir to upgrade the amenities in their hotel," said Dougherty. "These renovations make Richmond Highway more vibrant and this hotel an even nicer, more inviting place for visitors."
The hotel is located at 8843 Richmond Highway.
