The new Mount Vernon location of Orangetheory Fitness will hold its grand opening on Dec. 3, according to studio manager Becca Grinnan.

Located at Mount Vernon Plaza between Advance Auto Parts and Rainbow, the fitness studio is known for its science-based, one-hour, coach-led and technology-based workouts for people at all fitness levels. Orangetheory employs heart rate-based interval training in which members are guided through five different heart rate zones and wear monitors that provide real-time data for tracking progress over time via an app.

The Richmond Highway-based studio is the largest in the area, said Grinnan, and features water rowers, treadmills, bikes, striders and floor equipment, as well as showers and a “beauty bar” with blow dryers and lockers. The treadmills, which have shock absorption systems that reduce joint impact, are the first of their kind in the state, she added.

Grinnan, who left the West Springfield location of Orangetheory to open the Mount Vernon studio, is excited about launching the new business.

“I saw an opportunity there and wanted to grow our brand,” she said. “The opportunity to bring in members in a new area is amazing.”

Individuals who sign up as founding members secure special discount rates and can attend classes at the studio prior to its official opening. The first workout is free, and members can use any Orangetheory location, including nearby studios in Kingstowne and Old Town Alexandria. Teenagers age 14 and 15 can work out at the studio with a parent, and young adults age 16 and above can work out solo with a parent’s permission.

The new studio is still hiring for a few positions, including sales associates and coaches, according to Grinnan. Applicants can stop by the studio or call 703-342-0968.

Orangetheory Fitness is located at 7716 Richmond Highway. Once officially open, the studio’s hours will be weekdays from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends from 7 a.m. to either noon or 1 p.m., said Grinnan. The studio will be closed on Christmas Day.
