A rapidly expanding restaurant chain has plans to open a new location in the Hybla Valley section of Alexandria.
Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken recently signed a lease with KLNB to occupy an end space at 7508C Richmond Highway. Up until last month, that space — as well as an adjacent vacant parcel at 7508B — were occupied by Mill Direct Floorings, a floor covering showroom that has since consolidated its operations at its Fairfax location, according to a company representative.
In coming months, Hangry Joe’s new space will undergo renovation. The exact construction timetable is uncertain, but a staff member at the Kingstowne franchise said the Richmond Highway restaurant will open sometime this year.
Known for its Nashville-style chicken sandwiches, Hangry Joe’s offers a variety of fast food chicken fare, sides and beverages. The company has been announcing restaurant openings in many parts of Northern Virginia over the past year, including in the cities of Alexandria and Falls Church, and the counties of Arlington, Loudoun and Fairfax.
According to KLNB's website, the 3,417-square-foot retail space next to the future Hangry Joe's will become available for lease on June 30. The tenant at 7508A Richmond Highway is Sherwin-Williams Paint Store.
