Shah’s Halal Food, a New York-based food company that operates restaurants and food trucks and carts throughout the northeastern United States, is opening a restaurant at a small retail plaza at Russell Road and Richmond Highway in Alexandria.
The restaurant, tentatively scheduled to open within the next week according to franchise manager Atiq Bahrami, will feature a variety of fast-food Halal fare made from fresh ingredients, including chicken and lamb gyros, vegetarian falafel, rice platters, salads, sandwiches, side orders and drinks. Dishes will be served with the restaurant’s house-made white and spicy sauces, The meals will be available for dine-in or carry-out.
Shah’s Halal has another Virginia location in Falls Church and one that’s scheduled to open this year in Reston.
The new restaurant, which will be located adjacent to the Aldi supermarket, is opening in a space previously occupied by Johnny Sub Shop. The street address is 8256B Richmond Highway, and the business hours will be Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to midnight; Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
