December has arrived, and many holiday events are starting to take place around the Richmond Highway Corridor.  Following are six special events you might want to consider attending this weekend.


Lorton Holiday Extravaganza - Sat Dec 2 9:00 am

South County High School

Community holiday event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring kids' activities, photos with Santa, shopping with 180 artisans, entertainment, food trucks, Santa's Book Emporium and much more!

Nearly 3,000 shoppers are expected to converge on the SCHS campus for a day of shopping, entertainment, and holiday fun!

Christmastide at Gunston Hall - Sat Dec 2 10:00 am

Join us for this special visit to Christmases of the past. With games, live music, crafts, Santa, and more, peek into holiday celebrations at Gunston Hall in the 1920s and the 1780s. Explore what Christmas meant for all the different people–enslaved, indentured, wealthy, and poor–at 18th-century Gunston Hall. Snacks are available for purchase.

Fort Belvoir Winterfest & Tree Lighting Ceremony - Sat Dec 2 1:30 pm

Come celebrate the holiday season with us at our annual Winterfest and Tree Lighting Ceremony. Visit with Santa and holiday characters for a fun photo op experience. Start your holiday celebrations with the Friends of Mason Neck State Park at our annual Swanfall event.
At 2pm, enjoy a sumptuous buffet including charcuterie boards, fruits, special desserts, and more.

Caroling on the Corner - Sun Dec 3 4:30 pm

Aldersgate United Methodist Church

Join us on Sunday, December 3rd, for an evening of fellowship and joy as we gather on the front lawn of the church to sing some well-known Christmas carols. We'll have refreshments and will even get the fire pit going. In the event of rain (or other foul weather), we will shift inside to Founders Hall.
