Traffic diversion begins on southbound George Washington Memorial Parkway

The National Park Service confirmed today that construction workers have begun setting up concrete barriers and diverting southbound motorists into the left lane demarcated by double-yellow lines on the George Washington Memorial Highway near Waynewood Boulevard as they prepare to replace Bridge 12 on the Mount Vernon Trail.

Pedestrians and bicyclists will use the southbound right lane as a trail detour until the bridge work is finished later this summer.
