We’ve updated our list of public information meetings, grand openings and launches taking place over the coming month. Following are eight events to consider adding to your calendar for the month of May:
Richmond Highway BRT Public Information Meeting: Turn Lane Analysis - Tue May 3, 6:30 – 9 pm
Community Center in Lee District, Alexandria
There will be an open house from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and a presentation at 7 p.m. The community center is located at 7950 Audubon Avenue.
Informational Briefing on Mount Vernon Rec Center Renovation - Wed May 4, 6:30 pm
Bucknell Elementary School, Alexandria
The Fairfax County Park Authority, in cooperation with the Mount Vernon District Supervisor’s Office, will hold an informational briefing to discuss the approaching renovation and expansion schedule of the Mount Vernon Rec Center (MVRC) on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The briefing will be held at Bucknell Elementary School located at 6925 University Drive, Alexandria, Virginia. Ribbon Cutting for Laurel Hill Central Green Playground - Sat May 7, 2:00 pm

A new playground will open at Laurel Hill, and the public is invited to attend the opening celebration. NVTA Six Year Plan Public Hearing - Thurs May 12, 7:00 pm
Hybrid (Northern Virginia Transportation Authority in Fairfax & Virtual)

Richmond Highway Speed Limit Study: Second Virtual Public Information Meeting - Thurs May 26, 7:00 pm

The Richmond Highway Speed Limit Study is assessing the 45 MPH speed limit on about eight miles of Richmond Highway (Route 1) between Belvoir Road/Meade Road and I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) to improve safety for all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, drivers, and transit users.
