The National Park Service (NPS) is holding its free summer concert series again this year at Fort Hunt Park on Sunday evenings through the end of August.
According to Charles Cuvelier, superintendent of the George Washington Memorial Parkway, the NPS’ concert series has been held for about four decades, although it was suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and had a slightly modified schedule in 2021. Last September, NPS officials recognized longtime Fort Hunt Park volunteer Owen Hammett with an award for his service, including for his management of the summer concert series since 2006.
The Fort Hunt concerts are held at Pavilion A starting at 7 p.m. While picnic tables are available in the pavilion, guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs or picnic blankets due to limited seating. A food truck is expected to be on-site at each concert, said Cuvelier, and the vendor for June is “Dogs on the Curb.”
The following musical acts are scheduled to perform through the remainder of the summer:

NITEHAWKS SWING
June 19

Yea! Ericka, thanks for the great news and keeping the community informed of what's happening locally.
Ericka, thanks for sharing. I haven't seen any notice or coverage about this project by the Bureau of Land Management except for your "On the MoVe" posts. Thanks for helping to keep the community informed. Recommend that readers review and submit comments. From my listening to the meeting, I get the sense that
I am strongly opposed to any expansion of parking at the Mustang Loop parking lot. I support repaving with a permeable material. In my opinion, moving the pollinator garden is a waste of county resources. It adds a valued bit of nature to an otherwise sterile parking area and pavilion.
Erika, thanks for the update.
You're welcome!
