Mount Vernon CAC provides Thanksgiving meals for local police

The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for the Mount Vernon District Station of the Fairfax County Police Department provided meals to officers serving on Thanksgiving Day, thanks to donations from community members, volunteers and Wegmans.

According to CAC chairman Steve Vanni, officers enjoyed hot and cold breakfast items, wings, salads and sides, desserts and individual Thanksgiving meals. The CAC received messages of gratitude from Mount Vernon District Police Station Commander Capt. Marc Mitchell and on-duty patrol leadership.

"Big thanks to Wegmans in particular for donating about half of the overall cost and to all of our individual donors and volunteers," said Vanni. "We'll continue working to establish regular coordination of donations and opportunities to support the district police."

The CAC is taking a holiday break in December but will resume monthly meetings on Thursday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Mount Vernon District Station at 2511 Parkers Lane.
