Old Mill Road construction project starts March 11
Update: As of March 17, DPWES says that due to safety concerns presented by the contractor, both lanes will be closed at specific work locations. Motorists are instructed to follow the detour signs around the closed-off area.
Starting Friday, March 11, sections of Old Mill Road between Buckner Road and Rosemary Lena Way will be under construction as Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES) replaces a sewer line.
According to DPWES officials, only one lane will be closed within a particular work zone between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily. Project crews expect to start construction in the vicinity of Dogue Creek and work their way southeast toward Buckner Road, installing and testing the new line. The wastewater project is expected to continue at least through the end of the year.
